I’m Jen Moloney — Speech Pathologist, accredited NSW Primary School Teacher, and founder of The Empowered Learner. My unique background in both education and speech pathology allows me to support the vital connection between spoken language, reading, writing and learning.
I work with children to build the speech, language, literacy, and mathematical foundations they need to communicate confidently and thrive at school and in everyday life.

The Empowered Learner offers one-to-one writing tuition tailored specifically to your child’s individual needs. Delivered in a fun and dynamic way, each session will ignite your child’s love of writing as well as providing an understanding of planning for writing, specific grammar rules and how to apply spelling rules.

We focus on reading comprehension and fluency through the use of high quality, interest based junior fiction novels. This approach is a sure way hook your child in and ignite their love of reading!

Spelling

Each tuition session focuses on phonemic & phonological awareness as well as specific spelling rules to improve your child’s spelling skills.

Mathematics

The Empowered Learner offers one-to-one tuition focusing on a specific mathematical concept whilst embedding a multi-sensory learning approach. By using a fun variety of hands-on, visual, auditory and digital activities and games, this approach is a sure way hook your child in and ignite their love of Mathematics!

Assessment

In order to target your child’s specific learning needs, a full Australian Curriculum aligned English assessment is conducted during the first tuition session. Phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, reading fluency, reading comprehension, handwriting and writing are all assessed during this initial session. Verbal feedback is given to parents regarding their child’s specific learning needs.

In order to target your child’s specific learning needs, a full Australian Curriculum aligned assessment is conducted prior to teaching each mathematical topic. Verbal feedback is given to parents regarding their child’s specific learning needs.
Creating a collaborative approach between myself, students, parents and teachers is essential for providing optimal learning support both at home and in the classroom.
I provide parent feedback in the last five minutes of each session to empower parents with strategies and activities to support their child’s learning at home.
